We are adjusting the lighting. Creating the desired image of my worldview using artificial lighting in a unique setting like this is extremely difficult.  I rely on a wonderful team work with a lighting company, Rise, who have been in charge of lighting for my works for many years.

The work has been installed above the main entrance staircase. While as an art student, whenever I felt lost, I would go to the Tokyo National Museum to see masterpieces, and I would be overwhelmed and inspired. I never imagined that my work would be installed at the entrance of that very building.

This waterfall, with its colors: red and white, is perfectly suited for the New Year occasion. I painted it imagining the sunlight of the New Year shining down on the waterfall. It feels like a door to the future,  carved in the halls of classical Japanese art.

I was interviewed by the media about the new commissioned artwork for the Tokyo National Museum, which I will start working on this year. It's a large piece consisting of two screens, each with eighteen panels, making a total of thirty-six panels. The plan is to create a folding screen that recreates the lost colors of the Horyu-ji Temple era, based on my research about colors used during the Asuka period.
