This month, there are articles about the Mitsukoshi Isetan Senju Hiroshi Japanese Painting Grand Prize Exhibition in the Shinbijyutsu Newspaper, and about the Power of Art in September issue of Bijyutu no Mado.　They interviewed me on the meaning of art in relation to contemporary people's anxieties.　I also wrote about the Tale of Genji for the September issue of Geijutsu Shincho.

We just shipped the works to around the world.  I am now starting new pieces.

I was commissioned to paint 12 panel fusuma paintings from Abikoyama Kannonji Temple, said to be the oldest Kannonji Temple in Japan.  While I was considering different ideas, suddenly the rainbow appeared in front of me.  I quickly recorded colors which came to be 12 in total.  So for fusuma paintings for Abikoyama Kannonji Temple, I decided to create waterfall that the rainbow is emerging from behind.

To begin with, they are all completely different hues, so it's not a matter of which color I like or which color I am good at using, but rather I treat them all with equal distance. Depending on the color, they can be quiet or powerful, and each has a different expression. Taking this into consideration, I create a waterfall that matches each color.
